Backflow preventers are inspected as their own asset against the §13.7 items that apply to an assembly — general status, control valves, gauges and strainer maintenance on the annual visit, plus the §13.7.1.3 internal inspection on the five-year cadence. The three system-level items an assembly does not have (main drain §13.2.5, waterflow alarm devices §13.2.6, alarm panel reset §13.2.7) are removed for backflow assets.
